Sport World School student Luna Vujovic won Wimbledon U14, while Maia Burcescu managed to get to the semi-finals. Education World Wide and Sport World School congratulate them on their excellent results.
It was a true tennis holiday for fans worldwide who enjoyed spectacular matches at the Wimbldone. While their eyes were glued on world-class athletes, ours were focused on the younger generation. For a good reason. Two of the Sport World School students qualified for this prestigious competition.
Young Serbian tennis player Luna Vujovic, your new Wimbldone U14 champion, is an 8th-grade student in our online school. In the group phase, Luna had two victories and one defeat. In the semi-finals, she faced Maia Burcescu from Romania, another SWS student. And what a match it was, uncertain until the end. Yet Vujovic celebrated with 7:6, 7:5 in sets. In the finals, Luna played and won against Holly Smart. Vujovic plays at Ljubicic Tennis Academy, our respected partner from Croatia.
Maia Burcescu is from Romania, and she is a 7th-grade student at Sport World School. Before coming to Wimbledon, where she reached the semi-finals, Maia won G14 European Summer Cups 2023 with her national team. Here is an interesting fact. Luna Vujovic also played with the national team of Serbia, but they ended up in second place.
It seems like these two ladies will see each other on the courts often in the future.
Stay tuned, we will try to catch Luna and Maia for an interview this summer.
