Hard Work Beats Talent, If Talent Doesn’t Work Hard

Hard Work Beats Talent, If Talent Doesn’t Work Hard

Albert Einstein once said, “Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work.” There is so much truth in that sentence. Of course, talent will take you to a certain point. If you rely only on it, there is a small chance that you are going to succeed. On the other side, the world is full of people who maybe weren’t blessed with talent, but they worked hard and put a lot of effort into what they did. Ultimately, they achieved success.

That applies to the world of sports as well. You can find so many athletes who were underdogs, and who beat all odds and became champions despite adversities. Their formula for success is – love for the sport, hard work, and persistence. The sports industry is one of the most competitive industries in the world. It depends on the sport, but athletes have to start playing at a very young age. For example, children start playing at 4 or 5 years of age, and they have international competition at 10.

The problems begin when children start going to school. The school requires them to spend a certain amount of time, six to eight hours s day, in one place. That leaves way less time for the sport. Needless to say that competitions are during the school year, and a child misses classes. Once they return to school, they have a lot to do to catch up with their classmates and finalize the grade.

Choosing Between School and Sport

Many children had to give up their athletic dreams because they couldn’t do both school and sport. Their parents decided that school is more important. Children who do both school and sport oftentimes have bad grades or spend a lot of free time compensating for what the lessons they missed. In any case, it is a lot for a child to deal with so much stress.

In the past, some parents opt for homeschooling their children. It enabled those children to have more time to practice and achieve excellent results. Some of the world-famous athletes were homeschooled, Serena and Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Blake Griffin, for example.

In the day and age that we live in, a sports competition is fierce. If they want to compete at the top level, athletes have to invest a lot of time and effort into training. And they need to start doing so while they are kids.

Why Not Have It All

Regular school dynamic doesn’t do a favor to students who are interested in building an athletic career. But, that is where an online school can play a significant role. With the flexibility that online school provides young athletes can have enough time for both school and sport.

We know that talent is not enough and that every athlete needs to train a lot to achieve its goals. Having in mind the needs of young athletes, international online school Education World Wide founded a special department – Sport World School. An online school for young athletes at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Besides the flexibility that we have mentioned, which is a characteristic of all online schools, SWS also developed a unique learning methodology that fits the needs of young athletes. At SWS, each student creates individual learning plans and learns at their own tempo. With that kind of flexibility, they can easily balance school and sport, and they don’t have to make sacrifices on any side.

More importantly, SWS offers high-quality education. Our program is accredited by many relevant institutions, including the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). We believe that as a young athlete, or a parent of a young athlete, you might be interested to know that after graduating from SWS high school, students can apply to colleges within the NCAA network in the US. Of course, they can also go to any other college or a university in the world.
